Project Science - making partnerships for the future

pictureThe Society relies heavily on private finance to enable it to maintain its independent status and to support it in vigorously promoting excellence in science. Donations, corporate sponsorship and legacies are all ways to help this important work continue.

Project Science, the Royal Society's development and fundraising campaign was launched in 1996 by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

"The Royal Society’s Fellows continue to bring together the wealth of knowledge and expertise that is so vitally necessary in formulating balanced judgements about the use of science to solve national social, economic and industrial problems as well as looking for solutions to the many global problems which will affect the well-being of generations. This work can only be done by a body that is independent of vested interests...British science needs the guidance and advice that the Society can give, but the Society can only do so if it has its own adequate resources." HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Chairman of the Project Science Board of Patrons.
